Multifunctional Autonomous Mobile Robot
COMPLETED
January 2019 to May 2019 • MSc Automation Control and Robotics • Sheffield Hallam University • Merit
Overview
The dissertation is titled “Multifunctional Autonomous Mobile Robot for Various Applications.” It was supervised by Dr Lyuba Alboul. The course leader was Dr Xu Xu. The project mark was 63, worth 60 credits. The MSc was full time from 15 January 2018 to 31 May 2019 and was awarded on 25 June 2019.
What was built
The platform was a Hummer bot car. The controller was an Arduino UNO. The motors were driven by an L298N board.
Four behaviours were built and tested on the hardware:
- Infrared obstacle avoidance
- Ultrasonic obstacle avoidance
- Line following
- Wireless control by infrared remote and by Bluetooth
The controller compared sensor readings with a threshold and then sent timed motor commands. It was not a learned policy.
